Flu Shots

It is strongly recommended that everyone get a flu shot this year. Side effects of flu shots are typically minimal. Most commonly, people experience redness and swelling at the injection site for a few days. It is very uncommon to have a severe reaction to the flu shot. For detailed information about the flu shot, please refer to Ontario.ca/page/flu-vaccine-safety-effectiveness.

We did not receive a large supply of flu shots from Public Health this year and unfortunately cannot run a weekend flu clinic as we have in past years.

We do have a limited supply of regular flu vaccine – please book an appointment with the nurse to receive your flu shot if you have not already. Both the regular and the senior’s flu shots are also available at many pharmacies, including the pharmacy next door to our office.

APPOINTMENTS

Our office is up and running and trying to operate in the safest way possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We are conducting appointments in person, as well as over the phone.

We have had to close our lab during the pandemic.  Bloodwork can be done at your nearest Lifelabs or Dynacare.

Consent to virtual care

Consent virt care anchor

Virtual Care has some inherent privacy and security risks that your health information may be intercepted or unintentionally disclosed. We want to make sure you understand this before we proceed.

If it is determined you require a physical exam, you may still need to be assessed in person. You should also understand that virtual care is not a substitute for attending the Emergency Department if urgent care is needed. If you continue, we assume you consent to the use of electronic communication to provide you with care.

PRESCRIPTION RENEWALS

Prescription renewals often require an in office of virtual visit to reassess the condition requiring the prescription.  As much as possible, we try to provide you with repeat prescriptions to last you until your next visit.  When you are running low on medications, it is likely time to book your next appointment.  Script renewal is a time for us to check on you and make sure that all of your medical tests and appointments are up to date.

If you do not wish to schedule an appointment to review your medication, we will usually charge for prescription renewals.

Requests for prescription renewals can be faxed from your pharmacy.  Alternatively, you can leave a message on our prescription line (call our office at 905-881-3984 and listen to the prompts.
